Contra indications and warnings:
1. The contra indications for hot stone therapy are very similar as for a traditional manual massage, except that there is an additional consideration of heat.
2. So be careful with customers who suffer from high blood pressure, circulatory disorders, heart disease or pregnancy. Naturally, hot stone therapy is not suitable for clients with heat intolerant skin, very sensitive skin/skin prone to prickly heat/clients with nerve damage/loss of sense of touch.
Preparing for hot stone therapy:
1. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on heating the stones prior to curing (most heaters take 30-45 minutes to reach the desired temperature)
2. The stones should be in the temperature range of 120-140°F (47-~50°C)
Stone cleansing:
1. After each client, rinse all stones thoroughly under cold running water. Then wash with warm soapy water. Spray the gravel with an antibacterial spray.
2. At the end of the day, soak the stones in sea salt water for 20 minutes.
3. Dry the pebbles and repaint them with a natural oil such as almond oil.
4. Clean and store stones separately in a small box or container
